Often observed: thrashing

I'm back from the West Coast, but only for a little while. Once various grandparents clear out I'm going out again to help with baby Sweet Potato Squashface -- and to see some of you guys, I fervently hope. In the meantime I'll be working: editing for pay, writing for sanity, and drawing stix for fame and glory. Like this one:

The woman who broke her legs and threatened to sue Walter -- for fifty thousand dollars, an astronomical sum at the time -- eventually agreed to settle out of court for an undisclosed amount. About this incident he wrote, "When the matter was settled, I offered to shake hands with the patient and her husband, but was glared at." Fancy that! He goes on to say that he should have skipped all that electroshock nonsense and just lobotomized her. (In support of his argument, lobotomy rarely resulted in broken limbs.) I like to think of him making the same suggestion for a traffic violation, say. "Officer, I admit that I failed to signal, but if you'd just submit to a seven-minute medical procedure these minor infractions would no longer trouble you."
