This drawing is based on one I did in D.C. while I was waiting for the bus back to New York. I kind of wish I were in Portugal right now; it's about forty degrees there, which is positively balmy compared to New York's eleven. You'd think I'd be used to East Coast winters by now, being as how I've lived in this city my whole life, but I'm not. Every year I go through winter wanting to yell, "Whose idea was this?"
Something else Portugal has is a bunch of statues and other monuments dedicated to Egas! They've put him on several stamps too. At the Seventh International Sand Sculpture Festival he was even memorialized in sand. Such is the fleeting nature of earthly fame, Professor.
By the way, the Valentine's Day card is back up at the Small Peculiar store, so you should go order one, or several.
