The Sorrows of Young Werewolf

All my animals yell, "Attica! Attica!"

Well, I know the answer to my question, and it's the chick himself who answered it. It happened when I took him into my bedroom (which is also my office). He made a magnificent ten-foot flight to the window and clung there, yelling to (I believe) his very loud brethren outside.

My conspecifics! I hear my conspecifics!

So there it is: I must release him, into the sweet free sunlit air, if that's still possible. We have a two o'clock appointment with the nice people at the Wild Bird Fund, so we'll see what they say. The guy who called me mentioned the possibility of a "soft release," in which a bunch of birds are put in someone's backyard in an open cage with food in it and left to more or less release themselves. That sounds like a good idea: it's how my parents released me after college.
