I am not trying to milk the last few verses of the last chapter; it's just that here is where it starts to get kind of weird. I don't think this story is super-weird before the gourd, which is not a gourd but I'll get to that in a moment, shows up. Swallowed by a whale isn't that weird; we all start out our lives in the belly of a larger creature, after all. Nineveh's immediate conversion isn't that weird; it's not realistic, but this is a fairy tale, and there aren't press conferences or city council meetings in fairy tales. What's weird is that after the Ninevites convert, the story doesn't immediately end. And what happens next involves introspection and a castor-oil plant.
There's also the fact that this single panel took me an appallingly long time to draw. There's not even that much in it, but every item was a challenge, mainly because I'm not so good at perspective. That distant lamassu alone represents a couple hours of work, probably.
ETA: Sonofa, I forgot Jonah's beard again. I'm always doing that!
